Michael and I met each other on July 17th, 2006, my first day of work! We went on our first date in July of 2007. Although we didn’t officially start dating right away both of us knew that there was something special about each other.
I have always loved gerber daisys and knew that I wanted to have them incorporated into our wedding. I actually had seen a picture on a photographers website that helped me pick out the color combos for the bridesmaids boquets and groomsmen boutonnieres. County Florist did the flowers for the wedding. I showed them a picture of what I had in mind and they made my vision come to life. I really wanted the bouquets to be colorful to add that perfect pop of bright spring colors. My bouquet was different shades of pink roses with a broche that was my grandma’s who passed away. The flowers turned out beautiful and exactly what I had envisioned.
During the week Michael had asked me to go out to a nice dinner downtown (Indy) on Saturday night (1/9). We normally don’t go downtown on the weekends since we are there during the week for work however, I didn’t really think anything of it until I told a few of my friends what my plans were for Saturday night. My best friend even told me to call her as soon as Michael proposed. I kind of just laughed it off and went to Michaels house to meet him before dinner. When I got to Michael’s house he wasn’t acting weird or nervous so I figured that my friends were wrong. Right before we left for dinner, Michael told me that he was going to put away our Christmas tree that day but that he had one last gift for me…..he got down on one knee and proposed!! Afterwards we went downtown and had dinner at St. Elmo’s and celebrated with our good friends Mary and Andy.
It is really hard to pick out just one moment since I loved everything (but the rain) about the entire day. One of my favorite moments was right before I walked down the isle and then actually walking down the isle with my dad and seeing Michael for the first time that day waiting for me. The best moment for both Michael and I was when we said our vows!
We got married at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church. This church holds a lot of history for my family. My great grandparents were married there as well as my older sister and brother. The church is absolutely beautiful and I have always dreamed of getting married there.
We looked at a few different reception venues and chose St. Andrews. We really liked the lay out and spaciousness of St. Andrew’s and knew that it would be a perfect fit for our reception!
I was actually lucky enough to be able to plan my wedding along side my best friend who was also planning her wedding. We found Katie Whitcomb photographers and decided to meet with Katie. I knew right away that I had a connection with Katie not to mention I really liked their work, style and creativeness.
I have always loved anything black, white and hot pink so the color choice was really easy for me. I found some table runners that were black and white demask that fit into my vision for the tables at the reception. I was able to find a company called Glass Slipper Weddings that actually did the centerpieces for the reception. They have an awesome selection of beautiful centerpieces and I feel in love with their work immediatly. Cathy and Krista were great to work with and made planning for the reception easy and care free!
Our cake is also something that I found on a photographers website. I did change a few things on it and I loved how different and unique our cake was. It turned out perfect!
Just relax and try and take everything in. Everyone always says the day goes by so fast and you really don’t believe it until the lights come on at the reception and the music stops.
