I'm a wedding photographer based out of South Bend, Indiana.

I believe in always having a vase full of fresh flowers, especially during peony season. That ending a long day should always be on the patio, with a good book and a glass of rosé. And, going to the beach is always a good idea.

Hi, I'm
Katie

Recently, Chris & I had a conversation about how our business got to the place that it is today. I remember being in my parents’ basement, having no weddings on the books for the rest of the year nor any for the following year. And, it was only July. He thought I was crazy, I was determined, and I wanted to finally have the business support us in our own place. The moment we moved out of my parents’ house and into our first apartment, everything changed for us and the business. Somehow, the strong, God-given intuition kicked in and I never looked back. I have been asked a lot about how I got to where I am today and I can never give a clear answer. Here is what I know.

I know what I believe in.

  • The wedding is NOT about me.
  • I know what I can promise a couple and what I know that I might struggle to remember.
  • I know that I work hard for my clients, stashing away takeaway moments from each wedding.

I know why I shoot weddings.

  • They are simply magical to me.
  • I am a hopeless romantic.
  • I get to be reminded of my own vows to my own husband every weekend.

I am not afraid to say no.

  • Saying “yes” out of desperation has never been a good thing for us, which isn’t what I want from my couples.
  • When I follow my intuition and say “no” to an opportunity, I am almost always surprised at who we end up saying “yes” to…AND…sometimes when there isn’t a “yes” it’s because God knows there is something coming up that I won’t be able to perform the way I prefer (like when my son was diagnosed with Autism…I had time to grieve that).
Having said all that, I wouldn’t say I have a business plan, what I have is a manifesto. It’s something that I put together only a few months ago, but it was put together after going through an intense process in order to write down how I’ve always looked at my business.
