I'm a wedding photographer based out of South Bend, Indiana.

I believe in always having a vase full of fresh flowers, especially during peony season. That ending a long day should always be on the patio, with a good book and a glass of rosé. And, going to the beach is always a good idea.

We met through mutual friends in high school.

He took me shopping in Michigan City, and after it started raining which ruined our beach plans, we went home and he popped the question. I felt it coming all day. It felt fishy!

I found a very full bouquet of pink peonies on Pinterest and that’s what I showed the florist. I was disappointed with my bouquet because they weren’t the color I envisioned, but the bridesmaid’s bouquets were lovely. Since it was Mother’s Day weekend, it was very difficult to find a florist, so we went with Wright’s Flowers because they did my sister’s wedding last summer.

Seeing Dustin’s face when he saw me for the first time. While we were at the altar, he kept saying how beautiful I was.

First United Methodist Church is so beautiful and they do weddings fo non-members, so that was a big factor. They were in our budget and we fell in love with the church.

I’m drawn to the classy, vintage style so we just sort of threw stuff together with the help of Pinterest.

It was a 5 tiered round cake with buttercream frosting. We went with 3 different flavors: white cake with lemon filling, chocolate cake with coconut filling, and banana cake with Bavarian cream filling. Everyone loved it and it disappeared quickly.

Honestly, I googled “South Bend Wedding Photographer” and Katie Whitcomb was at the top and I loved her work.

My advice to other brides would be to keep things simple. Don’t stress over the little things. It’s about the marriage, not the wedding, so if things aren’t perfect just roll with it!
