Imagine being a freshman in college and you walk into your first week of choir rehearsals and you see a cute guy that embodies everything you ever thought the word joy could mean. That’s how I envision it was like for Katherine when she first met Dan. Getting to know one another was a weekly thing while they rehearsed, sang and traveled together for 2 years…with the rest of the choir. Both Katherine & Dan are loving, inspirational and have an impact on others that I’m not sure either of them realize.
Listening to toasts at the reception, you knew just how these two had touched those around, both as individuals and as a couple. Katherine is the kind of girl that likes to laugh and cares deeply about her friends and family. Dan is a guy who knows exactly what he wants and has a way of welcoming others into his world just by cracking a joke. Watching them interact was just beautiful. Their love was put to some pretty big, heartbreaking challenges and they have come out stronger than before because they were there to be the other’s legs when the other could stand alone. That is what I call a relationship goal.
I have never met a couple that had me laughing and crying as much as these two did. They included me into their day as a friend, not just their photographer. Dan also told me that my personality makes me seem 8′ tall…I’m 5’2″.
The Morris Inn‘s yellow wall was the perfect backdrop for the yellow bouquets that MichaelAngelo’s Event Company designed.. JUST gorgeous
I secretly want to go back through all of my Basilica weddings to see if I can find Katherine & Dan in the choir. This was the most amazing performance I’ve seen in a choir at a wedding. They incorporated song and instruments throughout the entire mass and even had it continue into formals afterward. It was well deserving of a standing ovation.
The fact that Katherine & Dan’s fathers were holding hands during communion was very symbolic of the two families joining together.
During Dan’s speech at the reception, he explained that there were prayer candles for his guests to leave a prayer request and the next day, the two of them would light a candle and say a prayer for the request. This just shows how they care and love others.
Where it all began, the Notre Dame choir room in Coleman-Morse Hall.
I LOVE these bold colors together, it reflects the joy of the day.
My favorite centerpieces were on the Parents’ tables. So pretty and intimate!
Their first dance was a song that one of their groomsmen played for them. It was magical.
Dan’s mother passed away a few years ago and to honor her, he asked all of the son’s to grab their moms and share a dance with him and one of his 3 women of honor. Dan, I have to say this got me. As a mother, I can only hope that I love my own son in a way that demands the type of love you showed with this dance.
That church!!! This wedding was sooo pretty!
What a BEAUTIFUL church! Love the idea of the mother/son dance that they did!
Beautiful photographs! And that cake…!
GORGEOUS wedding!
Oh my goodness! That church is so beautiful! And her dress? I love it! Beautiful photos.
Gorgeous wedding, the couple looks so blissfully happy!
That silhoutte shot is STUNNING!! looks like such a sweet wedding!
Love these! Great job capturing the day. Your ceremony pictures are so lovely. What lens did you use during the ceremony?
Thank you! Down the aisle, my hubby uses the Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 or the Nikon 70-200mm 2.8. From the side, I either use the Nikon 85mm 1.8 or the 180 2.8.
Do you like the 180, Katie? I really have trouble carrying the 70-200 on my harness all day.
I do… I have Lyme Disease (or..rather, I’m beating Lyme Disease) and it has attacked my joints in my wrists… With the 180mm, I don’t feel as though it exhausts me at all…
I can’t wait to shoot at this church! AMAZING photos!
Beautiful!
We absolutely loved being a part of your wonderful day! A memory we shall always cherish. May time never catch the two of you, but in case it does enjoy the the ride every day!
I don’t even know where to begin. What an absolutely beautiful wedding, beautifully captured. And that church!!!!
May they always be as happy as they were this day. 🙂
