I’ve already blogged about keeping the Bride’s Prep area clear of trash and random objects to make the photos a little more clean and perfect. Now, let’s talk about the inevitable Groom’s Prep area and how the trash collects so quickly.
First, the suits/tuxes almost ALWAYS come in a plastic, dry cleaner’s bag and it’s the first thing I notice in the photos that gets stacked in random places to just get it out of the way. This is completely understandable. I’m not honestly sure how to really prevent this except maybe have someone collect the bags from the suits/tuxes and hang them all up without the bags before Chris gets there.
This seems like a logical idea, yet I can imagine that with the events of the day going so quickly at the time the suits/tuxes go on that I have another idea. All the Groomsmen should have their pants and button down already on when Chris arrives for the Groom Prep section. This will allow the background to be clean, no one is in a compromising state and the images will completely rock.
A few ideas I’ve seen work (based on pictures I have seen from Chris’ work and I have responded too):
- Have a designated bar area with your drinks, beer & water. Usually I see this by the TV-but don’t spill.
- Hang all of the suits/tuxes in the closet as you first walk in and throw away the plastic bags in a trash bin and put in on the outside of the hotel/dressing room.
- OR…have all the guys come into the dressing room with their pants and button down on, but still needing to put their shoes, tie, vest, jacket, cuff links, etc on.
- Have fun with the process but keep in mind that Chris is a ninja and he will have plenty of black mail on you after this part of the day.
- Consider the lighting of the room. If you put the guys in a closet, the images won’t be as crisp and dimensional as you have seen trending on Pinterest. Having a beautiful window light and a room where the lamps and overhead lights off goes a LONG way.
