This is the perfect example of how “Mother Knows Best” because Katie’s mother first met Nick while working at the Riverfront Cafe in Niles, Michigan. After getting to know him a little better, she decided that her daughter needed to meet this handsome young man. Katie decided that while she had a snow day off, she would text him to see what he was doing. Luckily, he too had the day off and while they were passing the day away by watching movies, they set up a time to meet for dinner later in the week at Barnaby’s Pizza.
Nick completely surprised Katie! He was able to visit for a week in June – and unfortunately it rained about every day – dashing many of Katie’s summer ideas for them – beach, walking around Chicago, etc. – he proposed in Indianapolis a few hours before she needed to drop him off at the airport for his return flight home. They were downtown at Circle Center looking at the traffic and buildings in their atrium – and before she knew it – he proposed from the heart and then dropped to his knee. Katie was so happy and again surprised! She was glad the weather cleared up enough for them to walk around downtown and the canals.
