I'm a wedding photographer based out of South Bend, Indiana.

I believe in always having a vase full of fresh flowers, especially during peony season. That ending a long day should always be on the patio, with a good book and a glass of rosé. And, going to the beach is always a good idea.

Hi, I'm
Katie

Every Monday, I sit at the computer and I begin picking the images from a wedding. I always get so agitated because the guys just seem to be ready quickly at the beginning of Chris getting there and then they just hang out and he always get these super cool shots of the guys. I, however, am lucky if I get all the bridesmaids together in one shot before we head off to the ceremony or first look. I truly believe that this is because of a lack of education on my end in trying to ensure the bridesmaids get equally fabulous getting ready images. Here are a few of my thoughts on the matter:

First, I find myself not wanting to take certain images merely because there is trash laying all over the room. Selecting a designated trash/junk zone would help add to the elegance of a wedding as the easiest and simplest step.

Second, have a designated area that last minute hair and makeup details are finished in order to keep the clutter focused to a very central space. This can become complicated with 4 or more bridesmaids so having something as cute as personalized hand mirrors as their bridal gift is a great idea to consider. Can’t you just see it now? A handful of your bridesmaids sitting on the couch with their mirrors in hand while putting their lipstick on? Love IT!

Lastly, the window with the most light and least amount of junk in it will likely be where I have you put your dress in it. Before you set anything down the morning of your wedding, walk over the biggest light source in the room and stretch your hand out so your fingers are pointing out the window. That’s where you will be so look to see what you envision as your background and make sure there is NOTHING put on tables, chairs or stands in that line of sight.
